My Values
As you can tell from the name of my practice, your sense of agency, voice, and ability to make your own choices are of paramount importance to me. Lots of folks have had prior counseling experience, some of them positive and some of them less-so. Maybe you’re looking for a short-term tune-up, or maybe a long-term relationship with a provider is what you’re seeking. Either way, I want you to feel seen, validated, and supported (with me or elsewhere).
I am also deeply committed to affirming and acknowledging the realities of structural inequity that are faced by people of color, the LGBTQ+ community, and other marginalized groups.
Although I come from positions of high relative power and privilege in my own life, I recognize that I have the responsibility to learn, to grow, and to be vocal about the truth of oppression and difficulty experienced by so many in our society.
If you don’t share my perspectives on this or any other issue, that will not impact our ability to work together (or my own ability to offer support or the highest standard of care to you). My clients don’t all agree with me, and that’s completely fine! But if you are seeking a provider that strives to do better in this way, who is always trying to do better, I may be a good match for you.
